In 2026 the Anchor Golf Society celebrates 64 years of enjoyable golf. All members have the opportunity to play at excellent golf courses on a regular basis, between March and October each year. Whereas most members tend to live in the Bookham , Fetcham, Effingham, Leatherhead and East & West Horsley areas we also have members from further afield and the age range is wide !
The courses played each year vary but are generally in and around the county of Surrey. Regular favourites include, Effingham GC, West Byfleet GC, Cuddington GC, Woking GC and New Zealand GC, with at least one course rotated with a new venue on a regular basis. The traditional format is 18 holes of golf in the morning or afternoon followed by lunch or dinner at the Club and, to conclude, a return to the Anchor Pub Bookham, where the Winner on the day usually invites his fellow competitors to join him in a celebratory tipple !
The atmosphere at our Golf Days is always relaxed and there is excellent camaraderie. Guests of members are also very welcome and although there are prizes to compete for at each event, the highlight is often our exciting and unusual golf ball raffle orchestrated by our President.
